What to do if not Getting a Good College for Mtech

So the Gate Exam is Over . Result is out,most of admissions are done but still you haven't secured a good college then this post is for you.
will it be worth doing M.tech in a college which has 40-50% or less placement with average just around 3lacs?? Is it just about degree or You really want to learn??
If you did some silly mistakes in Gate but you have capability and curiosity to learn , then I have some good options for you .
1) Try for JRF in premier colleges.As these institutes have a lot of projects so You may get a chance to work there .You will receive 20-25 thousand per month for the duration and the best part You will get a chance for direct interview for M.tech /M.E.
2) Take admission into the best possible college .Your 1st semester will get over in November and then  you can prepare for GATE 2013 using the resources of the institute.Many of my friends have done it .Many persons will be doing this .All you need is to work hard
3)Take admission into the best possible college where some of companies come. All you have to do is be the best in your class/ college. Learn religiously and You can do better than average guys in "So called good colleges".Look at the highest package of that college and say "Next year my name will be here".

These are the best among the NITs .Comparable to IITs .Many People from top rankers filled the ccmt for backup so some of them will be leaving these. 
around 150 companies come in these colleges

Expected cutoff for IS/IT for these two : Rank- 550


Then The Next three
3)NIT Surathkal
4)NIT Allahabad
5) NIT Calicat
These are also A+ Nits with very high reputation.
Around 100+ companies come in these colleges


Expected cutoff for cse for these three : Rank- 720
Expected cutoff for IT/IS/SE for these three : Rank- 1050 (volatile)
Expected cutoff for GIS/IME (other interdisciplinary)for these three : Rank- 2000(volatile)

Then the next Five
6). NIT Jaipur
7). NIT Rourkela
8). NIT Kurukshetra
9). NIT Nagpur
10). NIT Surat


These are good NITs. If You work hard definately can Get Good packages.
70-80 companies come here including the companies microsoft  google and all major psus

Education wise these NITs are good but not very good placement wise .You really have to work hard here. Some Good companies come here including Psus but you need to outperform.

This year the cutoffs have shoot up exponentially due to 3rd year students not participating in GATE.
In each round there will be a drastic change in the cutoffs.
MY advice : 

1) Reserve a seat (mandatory) .you'll be losing only Rs1000(in worst case ) not Your career.

2) Even If you are getting Interdisciplinary in Top 5 ,take them .Any course in these are really good. you will love to learn here.  
3) Spot round would be risky . If You are a CSE student and they allow CE /IT/IS for all colleges then Dont go for spot round.

Cutoffs 2011

Methodology

Unfortunately getting cutoffs for all courses in all IITs is not as simple as it sounds. This is because not all institutes announce their cutoffs. Some of them only display a list of shortlisted candidates on their website while some only send emails to the selected candidates. As such getting cutoffs for these institutes is not easy and one has to follow discussion forums or get in touch with candidates to know the cutoffs.
